Std: VIII Topic: Buying a Car:
‘Take your happiness on a long ride’ - Drive your dream through technology.
Objective: The student will be able to

compare car loan schemes of various banks

apply compound interest formula to find
interests on car loan

select the best car loan scheme
Material required: (For each group)
To be sourced out
by the student: scrap book, pictures, colour pencils, sketch pens
Preparation prior
to session:
·
Inform the students that to arrange finance
for buying a car of your choice, you need to take car loan, offered by
different banks.
·
Ask the students to take a time period of not
more than 5 years, it can be less than or equal to 5 years.
·
Ask the students to do research on various car
loan schemes provided by several banks (HDFC, SBI, ICICI, IDBI, Citi Bank etc)
and collect information on interest rate offered, down payment that needs to be
done for the time period of your choice in their scheme.
·
Instruct the students that they will have to
decide on how much loan should be taken (Principal amount) from the information
collected to get the best deal.
Procedure to
carry out the project:
1. Instruct that each student in the group needs to do research on the assigned
criteria and collect related information in order to write in
their scrap book.
2. Instruct the students to write the heading as FINANCE FOR BUYING
A CAR on the first page of Math project.
3. Second page should contain the information collected from the
research done by students i.e. Interest
rate, down payment to be done for the loan taken for 5 years time period in a
tabular form

4. Ask the students to calculate how much C.I. needs to be paid in the
time period of your choice with the rate of interest offered by various banks
on the third page.
5.
Instruct the students to write
their conclusion based on their research and calculation including the
following points:

the reason for their choice
6.
Inform that the students need
to orally present the data collected, calculation and their conclusion in the class.
